President appoints 13 new governors, Koshyari resigns

New Delhi, 12 February: President Droupadi Murmu on Sunday appointed new governors in 13 states, accepting the resignations of Maharashtra Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari and Ladakh Lieutenant Governor Radha Krishnan Mathur, according to a Rashtrapati Bhavan release.

The President has accepted the resignations of Bhagat Singh Koshyari as Governor of Maharashtra and Radha Krishnan Mathur as Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh. The President has appointed Lieutenant General Kaivalya Trivikram Parnaik (Retd) as the Governor of Arunachal Pradesh. Apart from this, Laxman Prasad Acharya was given Sikkim, CP Radhakrishnan has been appointed as the Governor of Jharkhand, Shiv Pratap Shukla of Himachal Pradesh and Gulab Chand Kataria of Assam.

The President also appointed Justice (Retd) S Abdul Nazeer as Andhra Pradesh, Andhra Pradesh Governor Biswa Bhushan Harichandan was given charge of Chhattisgarh and Chhattisgarh Governor Anusuiya Uikey took over charge of Manipur.

Manipur Governor L Ganesan was appointed as the Governor of Nagaland. Bihar Governor Fagu Chauhan was appointed as the Governor of Meghalaya. Himachal Pradesh Governor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar has been appointed as the Governor of Bihar. The Governor of Jharkhand, Ramesh Bais was shifted to Maharashtra and the Governor of Arunachal Pradesh, Brigadier (retd) B.D. Mishra has been appointed as the LG of Ladakh. According to Rashtrapati Bhavan, these appointments will be effective from the date of assumption of charge in their respective offices.
