Lucknow, 25 December: It has been claimed that there is a Shiva temple under Dilkusha Plaza apartment on 47/9 Vidhansabha Marg in Lucknow. Meanwhile, this claim has been made by Meeta Das Gajraj Singh Mandir and Bhakti Bhavana Janhit Karya Samiti.
Yagyamani Dixit of the priest family of Bhakti Bhavana Janhit Karya Samiti alleged that Dr Shahid Hussain, a resident of Amberganj, has built Dilkusha Plaza apartment on Vidhansabha Marg. There is a Shiva temple under this apartment. This temple belongs to God, we are hereditary priests.
Yagyamani told that his father Ramakrishna Dixit had registered a committee to save the Shiva temple. Its name was Meeta Das Gajraj Singh Mandir and Bhakti Bhavana Janhit Karya Samiti. This committee had lodged an FIR in Kaiserbagh police station on August 14, 1994 to save the temple.
He further said that in the FIR lodged in Kaiserbagh police station, there was a complaint of theft of Ashtadhatu Radha Krishna idol, gold jewellery and many other items during the occupation of the temple. At that time no concrete action was taken in the whole matter. Gradually the entire temple was occupied. He is carrying forward his father’s fight.
On the other hand, the committee has claimed that in Lucknow in 1885, a social worker named Gajraj Singh had built a Shiva temple on his land. On this land there was also a temple of Radha Krishna and a big banyan tree. There used to be garland and flower shops. During the occupation of the temple, the tree was cut, which was banned by the magistrate. Despite this, the tree was cut, the temple was removed and an apartment was built.
