Kanyakumari/New Delhi, June 01: Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s 45-hour long meditation ended on Saturday at Vivekananda Rock Memorial in Kanyakumari, Tamil Nadu. After this, he paid floral tribute to the statue of Tamil saint poet Thiruvalluvar here.

Prime Minister Modi started his 45-hour meditation on the evening of May 30 at the Dhyan Mandapam located at Vivekananda Rock Memorial. Earlier, he visited the Vivekananda Rock Memorial here and offered prayers at the Bhagavathi Amman Temple.

After concluding his meditation session, Modi, dressed in white, visited the 133 feet high statue of Tiruvalluvar located next to the rock memorial and offered a huge garland as his tribute. He reached the statue complex by ferry service. After this, he reached the beach by this service.

During his stay at the memorial, PM Modi meditated and performed ‘Surya Arghya’, a spiritual practice at sunrise. Modi was dressed in saffron robes as he meditated at the Vivekananda Rock Memorial.

Kanyakumari is famous for its sunrise and sunset views and the memorial is located on a small island off the coastline.

Swami Vivekananda arrived in Kanyakumari after campaigning across the country and meditated for three days on a rock located at the meeting point of the Indian Ocean, Bay of Bengal and Arabian Sea, about 500 metres from the mainland. It is believed that this is where Vivekananda attained enlightenment. This rock is now known as ‘Dhyana Mandapam’.
