Young Bollywood star Bhumi Pednekar has been appreciated by all for her stellar performance in Thank You for Coming (TYFC), a film that focuses on the taboo subject of female pleasure in our country.
Bhumi plays a coming of age film in which she plays a 32-year-old girl who realizes that self-pleasure is the key to satisfying one’s sexual desires, rather than the idea of waiting for that perfect man. believes in something that can liberate her sexually.
Bhumi says, “I am proud that TYFC has started an important conversation about female pleasure which is somehow considered a very taboo subject in India. I am glad that the film and my performance have received unanimously positive reviews and that people of all genders are giving it so much love.”
She says, “As an actor, I have tried to raise my voice on social issues important to women, like in Dum Laga Ke Haisha a girl has the right to be happy with her body type, a woman has the right to make reasonable demands.” Toilet: Ek Prem Katha Mein Us Ghar Shrein Toilet, Lust Stories, Badhaai Do shows the society needs to treat women and gender equally.
She adds, “Now at TYFC, I am trying to be vocal about a girl’s right and need to self-pleasure. These are all extremely relevant issues for girls in India and I’m glad that I’m able to be a medium to bring this topic to people across our country. “Hopefully we can have these conversations more openly and constructively.”
