Lucknow, 10 April: The Yogi government, determined for the welfare of the farmers, is reaching door to door. In view of the adverse weather condition across the state, on one hand, Yogi government has issued instructions that wheat should not be kept in the open, it should be kept safe in the warehouse, while on the other hand, whether it is Sunday or any other holiday, communication with farmers is going on through mobile purchase center.
On the instructions of Yogi government, even on the holiday of Mahavir Jayanti, officials of the Food and Logistics Department reached village to village and established communication with the farmers.
The figures show that the efforts of Yogi government are also getting support from the farmers. On April 10 (till 12 noon), 3,67,875 farmers registered for wheat purchase. Wheat is being purchased through 5784 purchase centers. Government purchase of 1.43709 lakh metric tonnes of wheat has also been done from 27388 farmers. The situation is such that in two days more than 11 thousand farmers registered for government sale. While wheat was purchased from 20,409 farmers till April 8, the number of farmers selling has increased to more than 27388 till April 10. That is, in two days, more than seven thousand farmers sold wheat at government purchase centers. By April 8, 3.56 lakh farmers had registered for wheat sale, which has increased to 3.67 lakh by April 10.
The state government spokesperson said that to ensure good purchase of wheat this time, farmers were contacted by going from village to village even before harvesting and they were motivated to sell at the government purchase center. For the first time, the Food and Logistics Department reached the farmer’s field through mobile purchase centers. On one hand, harvesting is going on, while on the other hand, wheat is being weighed on the spot.
He informed that on the instructions of CM Yogi, purchase centers are opening even on holidays, making it very easy for the farmers to sell wheat. On Thursday, even on the holiday of Mahavir Jayanti, officials of the Food and Logistics Department went from village to village and established contact with the farmers.
The minimum support price (MSP) of wheat has been fixed at Rs 2425 per quintal for the Rabi marketing year 2025-26, which is being paid to the farmers within 48 hours. Not only this, farmers are also being reimbursed at the rate of Rs 20 per quintal for unloading, sieving and cleaning of wheat.
The Yogi government has made arrangements that registered farmers can sell up to 100 quintals of wheat without verification. On the instructions of the Chief Minister, proper arrangements have also been made for sitting at the procurement centers, pure drinking water etc. At the same time, farmers are also being paid within 48 hours.
In the 8 years of Yogi government, farmers were given the benefit of MSP directly, while the rule of middlemen remained established during the SP rule. In 8 years of Yogi government, about 50 lakh farmers were paid Rs 43424.44 crore for wheat sale, whereas in five years of SP government, only Rs 12808.67 crore was paid to 19,02,098 farmers.
