Lucknow: Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh filed his nomination for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections from Lucknow seat on Tuesday at district magistrate [DM] office.

Deputy Chief Ministers, Keshav Prasad Maurya and Dinesh Sharma along with veteran BJP leader Kalraj Mishra were also present at the time of the nomination.

Prior to filing his nomination paper, Mr Singh reached Lucknow’s famous Hanuman Setu temple to seek blessings from Lord Hanuman.

Union Home Minister also held a massive road show in which thousands of BJP workers and the locals were gathered to greet him.

Interestingly, Mr Singh does not have any opponents yet. The opposition is yet to decide candidate to field against the Union Minister.

Mr Singh won the 2009 Lok Sabha elections from Western Uttar Pradesh’s Ghaziabad parliamentary constituency; later in 2014 he was shifted to Lucknow from where former PM Bharat Ratna Atal Bihari Vajpayee was Member Of Parliament [MP] from 1991 to 2009.

Mr Singh won 2014 Lok Sabha elections by defeating then Congress party candidate Ms Rita Bahuguna Joshi, who later joined BJP and is BJP’s Lok Sabha candidate from Allahabad seat.

Lucknow goes to polls in the fifth phase and votes will be cast here on May 6.
