Lucknow, June 27: Evidences of the spread of encroachment on Kukrail riverbed in Lucknow have been noticed. After the joint action of the Irrigation Department, LDA, Municipal Corporation, Akbar Nagar, which was settled on the land of Kukrail river, was demolished. LDA removed Akbar Nagar by bulldozing it.
Now in the survey of the Irrigation Department and LDA, about five hundred shops and houses of Abrar Nagar, Adil Nagar and Khurram Nagar have been identified as illegal constructions.
LDA Vice President Indramani Tripathi said that at present, investigation of many parts of Abrar Nagar, Adil Nagar, Khurram Nagar has revealed that most of the houses built there are illegal constructions. The river land was encroached and houses were built. Now in the campaign to vacate the land, bulldozers will be run in Abrar Nagar and after that in Adil Nagar.
Indramani said that due to the shortage of water in the Kukrail river flowing on the left side of the Kukrail forest area, its flow area decreased. After this, the process of occupying the land on the other side of the Kukrail forest started, in which houses were built illegally. The third generation of many families is living in Abrar Nagar and Adil Nagar, but the identified houses of Abrar Nagar and Adil Nagar, which have been built illegally, will be demolished. So that the river land can be freed.
Mohammad Jabir, a resident of Abrar Nagar, said that we are servants of Allah, we are not afraid. Many seasons have come and gone. We have seen Akbar Nagar being demolished. Now Abrar Nagar is going to be demolished. This time there will be opposition to the bulldozer action in Abrar Nagar. The government will not be able to act arbitrarily on the strength of LDA officials. Where was the LDA when our people bought the land? We bought the land and built houses. LDA should take action against the land sellers.
Zeeshan Ahmed said that the Uttar Pradesh government is taking unilateral action. One party is being harassed in the name of evacuating the land of Kukrail river. Like Kukrail river, many buildings and religious places have come up on the banks of Gomti river. Why will no action be taken there? Our people are being weakened in the name of action. Helplessly, our people are forced to go to other places. Everyone knows what the government’s intention is.
