Riots in France continue after 5 days of Nahel’s killing

Paris, 01 July: The situation in France has gone beyond control. The rioters have indulged in looting banks and setting malls on fire. Riots broke out after a policeman shot dead a teenager who violated the traffic rules on Tuesday.

Following the death of the youth Nahel, a large number of people started protesting the police action. The riots spread across the nation in a short time. A large number of vehicles were damaged, and buildings were set on fire.

More than 9,000 people have been arrested in this connection. The French Capital Paris is burning for the last 72 hours. The worst hit was French Guayana where a police personnel was set on fire by the rioters. In Caen, a 54-year-old government employee was shot dead.

An Algerian and Moroccan descent Nahel M was shot in the Nanterre suburb on Tuesday. Video of his killing became viral on social media and reignited complaints by poor and racially mixed communities of police violence and racism.
