Rishabh Shetty gets Special Jury Award for ‘Kantara’ at 54th IFFI

Kannada films were blockbusters at the box office of the Hindi-speaking lands. KGF Chapter 1 & 2 and Rishabh Shetty’s ‘Kantara’ have been declared massive hits at the box office. Made with a budget of Rs 16 crore, ‘Kantara’ earned more than Rs 400 crore overseas. The first look of the film’s sequel was released recently. Since the announcement of this second part, the audience was eagerly waiting for this film.

Recently, in the ongoing 54th International Film Festival of India (IFFI), Rishabh Shetty has been given the Special Jury Award for ‘Kantara’. Not only this, Rishabh Shetty’s ‘Kantara’ has become the first Kannada film to win an award at IFFI. In this regard, the makers of the film have also given information to the people by sharing a post.

Recently Rishabh Shetty participated in โ€œIFFI 2023โ€. While talking to the media at that time, he had said, โ€œKantara was a film related to our roots, that is why it made people feel like us. The level at which the film is today is only because of the Indian audience.โ€ Shetty also commented that currently regional films are crossing language boundaries to reach across the world and get noticed.

Now the audience is eagerly waiting for ‘Kantara 2’. Made with a budget of Rs 16 crore, ‘Kantara’ earned more than Rs 407.82 crore. And its second part i.e. prequel ‘Kantara A Legend – Chapter 1’ will be released in seven languages like Kannada, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Hindi, Bengali and English.

Like the first part, it has also been directed by Rishabh Shetty. There is no information about the release date of the film yet, but it is expected to hit the screens by the end of 2024.
