Lucknow, July 10: The incidents of road accidents have jumped across Uttar Pradesh due to vehicles running at high speed going out of control on different expressways.
In the year 2024, many people have lost their lives in road accidents on the expressway.
If we look at the figure of road accidents on the expressway in the year 2024, in the beginning of January itself, forty passengers were injured when two buses running at high speed collided with each other on the Yamuna Expressway in Mathura.
On February 23 2024, a high-speed car collided with a divider on the Purvanchal Expressway in Sultanpur. In which three people including a couple died.
Similarly, on March 6, 2024, a truck coming from behind collided with a trailer parked on the side of the road on the Purvanchal Expressway in Mau. In this road accident, the truck owner died on the spot.
In the month of July, a bus going from Delhi to Siwan Bihar collided with a heavy vehicle in Amethi district. Four passengers travelling in the bus died tragically. Twelve passengers were also injured. This major accident occurred due to the high speed of the bus. The road accident in Amethi was not yet old.
Meanwhile a horrific road accident took place on the Agra Expressway in Unnao district, in which 18 people lost their lives.
Awareness programs to prevent road accidents
Every month, awareness programs are being organized by the Uttar Pradesh Expressway Industrial Development Authority ( UPEIDA) to stop road accidents.
The Additional Chief Executive Officer of the Authority, Hari Pratap Shahi, also keeps giving his message to prevent road accidents on the expressway.
According to Hari Pratap Shahi, to prevent road accidents, vehicles should be driven at normal speed on the expressway, so that the control over the vehicle remains.
