New Delhi, March 01: An Indian student died on Tuesday in the Ukraine-Russia war. Today this student died during firing in Kharkiv. The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) has confirmed this.
The slain youth has been identified as Naveen Shekharappa Gyangyodar, a resident of Chalgeri in Haveri district of Karnataka. Naveen, 20, was a fourth year student of Kharkiv National Medical University.
The MEA spokesperson Arindam Bagchi tweeted that it is with deep sadness that we confirm that an Indian student lost his life in shelling in Kharkiv this morning. The ministry is in touch with his family. We express our deepest condolences to the family.
Bagchi further said that Indian Foreign Secretary Harsh Vardhan Shringla has summoned the ambassadors of Russia and Ukraine and reiterated to them to provide a safe passage for Indian students and ambassadors.
He further stated that the Indian Ambassadors in Russia and Ukraine are also making every effort for the safe return of the students and citizens.
It is being told that an Indian student Naveen has died in Kharkiv. An official coordinating the students has confirmed this. He says that Naveen was standing near the Governor’s House with some others to take food when the attack took place and he died.
