Lucknow, 21 October: This year, Russian artists will also stage Ramlila in the world famous ‘Deepotsav’ to be held in temple town.
On the invitation of Ayodhya Research Institute, Russian-Indian Friendship Association ‘Disha’ has also started preparations for the rehearsal.
Dr Rameshwar Singh said that Russian artists will present ‘Disha Ramlila’ on the stage of Deepotsav from 9-11 November in the memory of Padmashree Gennadi Pechnikov.
Dr Rameshwar Singh, producer and director of Ramlila Committee, said that the history of staging Ramlila in Russia dates back to 1960. Gennady Mikhailovich Pechnikov, popularly known as the Russian Ram, staged Ramlila for 20 years.
He visited India several times and was honored with highest awards like Padmashree including Bal Mitra.
After forty years, Russian-Indian Friendship Committee ‘Disha’ started staging ‘Disha Ramlila’ again in the memory of Padmashree Gennady Pechnikov and in honor of Russian-Indian friendship.
Its first presentation took place in Ayodhya on 4-6 November 2018, the second in January 2019 in Prayagraj Kumbh and the third presentation in Ayodhya Deepotsav during October-October 2022.
Russian-Indian Friendship Association ‘Disha’ will continue to represent Russia this year at the Deepotsav, which is dedicated to the triumphant return of Lord Ram to his hometown Ayodhya.
