Moradabad, 08 April: The disputed Shahi Jama Masjid of Sambhal district of Uttar Pradesh will now be called Juma Masjid.

The Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) has sent a board with the changed name of Shahi Jama Masjid, which is kept in Satyavrat Chowki which was started two days ago. Harishankar Jain, the lawyer of the Harihar temple side, had demanded from the High Court to call it a disputed site.

It is worth mentioning that a violence and uproar broke out at three places during the survey on November 24 2024 in the disputed Jama Masjid and Hariharnath Nath temple in Sambhal district. The first uproar took place near the disputed Jama Masjid, where five people lost their lives. The second uproar took place at Nakhasa Tiraha, where stones were pelted and firing was done on the police. After this, the third violence took place in Hindupur Kheda. Here a deadly attack was made on the police officers.
