New Delhi, 16 August: The Supreme Court has stayed the anti-encroachment drive near Shri Krishna Janmabhoomi in Mathura for 10 days. The court has issued a notice to the railways. The matter will come up for hearing after a week.

The railway is taking demolition action against the people living near its tracks. On August 14, the railways took demolition action on the encroached houses with JCB machines. The petitioner claims that people have been living there for more than 100 years.

The petitioners are demanding to stop the demolition proceedings on this basis. The petitioner submitted that the railways have already removed a lot of encroachments. Now 70?80 houses are left. Save them from breaking.
