New Delhi, 10 November: The Supreme Court has expressed deep concern over keeping twelve bills passed by the Tamil Nadu Assembly pending in the Raj Bhavan for a long time.
The bench headed by Chief Justice DY Chandrachud has issued a notice to the Central Government and sought its reply. The next hearing of the case will be on November 20.
During the hearing today, lawyers Abhishek Manu Singhvi, Mukul Rohatgi and P Wilson, appearing for the Tamil Nadu government, said that Governor N Ravi has kept 12 bills passed by the state assembly pending.
Apart from this, files related to some decisions given by the state government like allowing prosecution of public servants, premature release of prisoners, appointment in Tamil Nadu Public Service Commission etc. are also pending with the Governor.
Tamil Nadu government’s petition states that state Governor RN Ravi has not given his assent to the 12 bills passed by the Assembly. The Tamil Nadu government has demanded that directions should be passed to the Governor to dispose of these files in a time bound manner.
