New Delhi, July 24: The Supreme Court has pulled up the Delhi government while hearing the Rapid Rail Project case. The court has asked the Delhi government to pay Rs 415 crore in two weeks for the rapid rail project.

A bench headed by Justice Sanjay Kishan Kaul made a scathing comment that you spent 1100 crores on advertisements in three years but did not give a share for an important project related to the common people. Will we have to order the forfeiture of a year’s advertising budget?

On July 3, the Supreme Court railed against the Delhi government for expressing its inability to provide funds for the Regional Rapid Transit System.

The court had said that projects like the Regional Rapid Transit System should not be stalled due to a lack of funds.

Expressing displeasure over the non-provision of funds for the project, the court had asked the Delhi government to give detailed details of expenditure on advertisements for three years.

In fact, on April 21, the Supreme Court directed the Delhi government to contribute Rs 500 crore from the environment compensation fee fund to the Regional Rapid Transit System corridor.

After the Delhi government expressed its inability to do so, the Supreme Court asked the AAP government to file a detailed report of the advertisements given in the last three years.

Actually, the distance of 82.15 km between Delhi and Meerut will be covered in 60 minutes through the semi-high-speed rail corridor.

The Regional Rapid Transit System corridor with 24 stations is being built from Seraikale Khan in Delhi to Modipuram, Meerut, at an estimated cost of Rs 31,632 crore.
