New Delhi, 5 August: The Supreme Court has refused to hear a plea against allowing Sikh employees posted at airports and Indian flights operating from domestic terminals to carry Kirpans of the prescribed limit. A bench headed by Justice Abdul Nazeer asked the petitioner to approach the Delhi High Court.

The petition was filed by Hindu Sena. Advocate Ankur Yadav, appearing for the petitioner, submitted that such permission could become a cause of danger to the air travellers. The petition challenged the March 4 and 12 orders of the Bureau of Civil Aviation Security.

Petition said that this order is tantamount to breaching the security of air travel. The order states that the total length of the Kirpan should not exceed nine inches and total length of the blade of the saber should not exceed six inches.
