Lucknow, 02 July: Section 144 ( Unlawful assembly) of the Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC) implemented in Uttar Pradesh’s capital Lucknow has been extended till August 30.
Meanwhile, this decision has been taken keeping in view the Shravan month, Moharram, Nagpanchami, Independence Day and many other festivals and various entrance examinations starting from July 4.
Joint Commissioner of Police Law and Order Upendra Kumar Aggarwal told this on Sunday that there are many big festivals and entrance examinations and national festivals in the coming days. In such a situation, the peace system can be disturbed due to the protest demonstration by various political party workers and all the protesters. In view of this, section 144 has been extended till 30 August.
He has instructed the officers and SHOs that Section 144 should be strictly followed.
