Lucknow, 27 December: In view of the widespread violence that took place on December 19 under the guise of opposition to the Citizenship (Amendment) Act (CAA), this time, the Yogi government is leaving no stone unturned to maintain the peace and tranquility of the state during and after Friday prayers so district administrations are already on an alert mode to sense the nuisance.
As a precautionary measures, Internet services have been suspended in 20 districts including Lucknow, Meerut, in the state. Police patrolling has been increased on the streets. While the help of Drone cameras are also being taken to keep an eye at many places. The state government has directed concerned officials to deal strictly with miscreants.
Taking preacuationary measures, the administration has suspended internet services on Friday in 20 districts including Lucknow, Firozabad, Kanpur, Sitapur, Meerut, Ghaziabad, Bijnor, Muzaffarnagar, Bulandshahar, Agra, Aligarh. Section 144 has been imposed in Sultanpur. Since Friday morning, foot patrolling in cities like Lucknow, Kanpur, Sitapur, Aligarh has been increased. Along with this, more vigilance has been raised around mosques.
Apart from increasing patrolling among the mixed population, police-administrative officers are in constant contact with prominent people of Muslim society. The administration in Gorakhpur on Friday made tight security arrangements in the city, especially in the Kotwali area. Paramilitary force and heavy police force will be deployed in the nuisance affected area before the afternoon prayers. Security arrangements will be commanded by SP City.
In Moradabad division, besides the police and administration officials, the PAC and Paramilitary Force Front are handling the sensitive areas with the police. On Thursday, police and paramilitary forces marched along with officers in all the districts of Moradabad division.
A social media lab has been set up in the DIG office of Meerut. The same lab is keeping an eye on all the districts of western Uttar Pradesh through digital volunteers. Five companies of paramilitary forces are stationed in susceptible areas. Internet service has been discontinued. The police in Meerut have made security arrangements by listing all the mosques.
Security of sensitive areas in Muzaffarnagar has been entrusted to RAF and PAC. In a week, 687 meetings have been appealed to the people to maintain peace.
In Bulandshahr, there is a lot of vigilance about the prayers of Juma. Restrictions on Internet services will remain. Internet services has also been stopped in Saharanpur.
However, in Khurja, Bulandshahr, on Thursday, mischievous elements tried to spoil the atmosphere by throwing pieces of meat inside the shrine. Due to the vigilance of the elite people and the police, the matter was resolved.
DIG Rajesh Kumar Pandey in Bareilly said that the policemen who were on duty in Rampur have been recalled. Intelligence teams are active. PAC and RAF will also be deployed. Police, PAC are deployed at religious places. Mischievous elements are being monitored by drones. Even on Thursday, peace committee meetings continued throughout the day.
