Shahjahanpur, July 18: A criminal with a bounty of Rs. 1 lakh died after being shot in an encounter between Bareilly STF unit and a criminal on Wednesday night in Shahjahanpur district of Uttar Pradesh.
Superintendent of Police Ashok Kumar Meena said on Thursday that the criminal killed is Shahnoor alias Shanu, a resident of Sambhal district. An encounter took place between Bareilly STF and criminal Shanu near Pithanapur village in Tilhar police station area. The rewarded criminal Shanu was injured after being shot in police retaliation. The injured criminal was taken to Madanapur CHC, from where he was referred to the district hospital. Doctors declared him dead in the district hospital.
SP said that Shanu was a notorious criminal and a bounty of Rs. 1 lakh was also declared on him. Dozens of cases like robbery, murder, dacoity are registered against him in various districts.
SP also informed that the criminal used to brutalise and sexually assault women during robbery bids .
