San Salvador, November 19: Shennis Palacios of Central American country Nicaragua has become the 72nd Miss Universe. This competition was held on Saturday night (Indian time) at the Jose Adolfo Pineda Arena in San Salvador, the capital of El Salvador. Miss Universe 2022 winner R. Bonnie Gabriel crowned Shennis Palacios as Miss Universe.
Miss Universe posted on its Instagram page, “Miss Universe 2023 is Shanice Palacios.” A total of 84 contestants participated in the pageant. 20 contestants were selected in the semi-final round. Indian model Shweta Sharda was also included in these 20 contestants. Shweta Sharda is a resident of Chandigarh. She did her schooling from Government Model School, Modern Complex, Manimajra. India’s hopes were dashed as soon as they reached the semi-finals. She was not selected in the top 10 in the final round. Shanice Palacios of Nicaragua won the final round.
In the final competition, the question was asked which woman would like to live for a year. This time Shanice’s answer won the hearts of the examiners, so she was given the title of Miss Universe. Shennis said she would like to live a year of the life of Mary Wollstonecraft, known as the mother of feminism and women’s rights activist.
She is the first woman from Nicaragua to win the Miss Universe title. She was very happy when her name was mentioned as Miss Universe. She is seen getting emotional in the pictures going viral on social media. Australia’s Morya Wilson was the second runner-up in this competition. So Antonia Porsild of Thailand became the first runner-up winner.
