Shocking: IIT Kanpur professor suffers cardiac arrest on stage, dies, his last words were to students, ” Please take care of your health”

Kanpur, December 23: As soon as a professor started speaking on the stage in an ongoing lecture at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kanpur, he suffered a heart attack.

He was immediately rushed to the hospital, where the doctors declared him dead. There was a wave of mourning in IIT due to the death of the professor.

A program was organized at IIT Kanpur on Saturday in which 55-year-old Professor Sameer Khandekar, associated with the Department of Mechanical Engineering, reached the stage for the lecture, he had just started and appealed to the students to take care of their health in view of the increasing cold. He was staying there, when suddenly he fainted and fell down.

Seeing this, his fellow professors hurriedly took him to the Cardiology Hospital but by then it was too late, the doctors there declared him dead after examining.

Due to this, there was a wave of mourning in the IIT campus and he started being discussed everywhere. People are bidding farewell with teary-eyes. A condolence meeting is being organized for Khandekar, who was extremely sociable and an IIT graduate. People are saying that this loss cannot be compensated.

It is informed that in 2019, he had a cholesterol problem and was undergoing treatment for it.

Central Government Secretary and former Director Prof Abhay Karandikar along with many senior professors of IIT have also expressed grief over the demise of Prof Sameer Khandekar.
