New Delhi, 28 November: The President, the Prime Minister and the Union Road and Transport Minister have expressed happiness over the safe evacuation of workers from Silkyara in Uttarkashi, Uttarakhand on the 17th day and have praised NDRF, SDRF and other agencies for the successful rescue operation.
President Droupadi Murmu said she felt relieved and happy to know that all the workers trapped in a tunnel in Uttarakhand have been rescued. Their suffering for 17 days in the face of obstacles in the rescue work has been a testament to human resilience. The nation salutes their spirit and is grateful to them for building critical infrastructure away from their homes, even at great personal risk.
She congratulates the teams and all the experts who have worked with incredible patience and determination to accomplish one of the most difficult rescue operations in history.
The Prime Minister said that the success of the rescue operation of our labor brothers in Uttarkashi is going to make everyone emotional. He wants to tell the friends who were trapped in the tunnel that your courage and patience is inspiring everyone. They wish you all well and good health. It is a matter of great satisfaction that after a long wait these friends of ours will now meet their loved ones. The patience and courage that all these families have shown in this challenging time cannot be appreciated enough.
PM Modi also saluted the spirit of all the people associated with the rescue operation. He said that their bravery and determination has given new life to our labor brothers. Everyone involved in this mission has set an amazing example of humanity and teamwork.
Union Minister Nitin Gadkari said that he is feeling completely relieved and happy that 41 laborers trapped in the Silkyara Tunnel accident have been successfully rescued. It was a coordinated effort by multiple agencies, one of the most significant rescue operations in recent years.
