Sitapur Congress MP Rakesh Rathore in jeopardy as rape case lodged against him

Sitapur, January 18: A case has been registered against Congress MP Rakesh Rathore of Sitapur Lok Sabha constituency of Uttar Pradesh on charges of raping a woman.

Superintendent of Police Chakresh Mishra told media persons on Saturday that a woman living in Kotwali Nagar area had presented evidence related to the case accusing the MP of rape. On this basis, Kotwali police on Friday night registered a case against MP Rathore under various sections and started investigation.

He told that the woman had lodged a complaint in the Kotwali on January 15. In this, she had told that MP Rakesh Rathore has been sexually exploiting her for the last four years by giving false promises of marriage. He had also assured her of helping her in political career. Both are of the same caste.

The victim also provided electronic evidence, call recording to the police. Along with this, she also told that she is being threatened by the MP. In this case, the police has registered a case on the basis of the complaint of the victim woman. The victim was given a medical check-up and her statement was also recorded before the court. The police has also provided security to the victim.
