Slain gangster Gufran wanted to kill 2 UP cops

Lucknow, 27 June: Gufran, a dreaded criminal who was slain in a confrontation with UP Police on Tuesday morning in Kaushambi district, had planned to murder two police officers in order to revenge the death of his sidekick Taureek.

Taukeer, a known thief with a Rs 1 lakh bounty on his head, was gunned down by the Uttar Pradesh Special Task Force (STF) on June 7, 2019. According to reports, Gufran and Taureek’s brother Jaid plotted to assassinate the UP Police officer in jail.

Gufran was slain in a confrontation with the UP STF about 5 a.m. near Kaushambi. He was sought in multiple incidents of murder and dacoity.

He was rushed to the hospital, where physicians proclaimed him dead. Gufran was charged with murder, robbery, and looting at Pratapgarh and Sultanpur. Gufran had been carrying a Rs 1,25,000 reward from the Prayagraj and Sultanpur police departments.
