Noida, 10 Nov: The detention of five men detained in a case of alleged usage of snake venom at rave parties has been extended by the Noida Police till November 12, authorities said on Friday.
The five men, who include snake charmers and YouTuber Elvish Yadav, are among the six listed defendants in the case, which was filed under the Wildlife Protection Act of 1972 and for criminal conspiracy under the Indian Penal Code (IPC). Rahul (32), Teetunath (45), Jaikaran (50), Narayan (50), and Ravinath (45), all natives of Moharband village in southeast Delhi’s Badarpur, were detained on November 3 and taken into judicial custody from a banquet hall in Noida.
“We had requested the arrestees’ police remand. The court has granted police remand until November 12,” a senior police official, who asked to remain anonymous, stated.
“During the preliminary inquiry, these persons disclosed the YouTuber’s name. Police have now requested an explanation from them regarding the naming of the YouTuber and other details in order to determine if he has any role in the case,” the officer stated.
Yadav, the reality program “Bigg Boss OTT” champion, has denied any participation in the issue. Earlier this week, he was questioned by police for more than two hours. The officer stated that a notification has been given to Yadav to rejoin the inquiry.
