So far, 1500 devotees create a world record by playing ‘Damru’ together for 10 min in Ujjain

Ujjain/Bhopal, August 5: A world record was made before Lord Mahakal’s procession came out on the third Monday of Sawan today in the city of world famous Jyotirlinga Lord Mahakaleshwar in Ujjain. Here 1500 people played ‘Damru’ together for 10 minutes on Shakti Path near Mahakal Lok. With this, Ujjain’s name got registered in the Guinness Book of World Records for the maximum number of people playing Damru.

Rishinath from the Guinness Book handed over its certificate to MP Anil Ferozia, MLA Satish Malviya and saints.

On the occasion of the third Monday of Sawan in Ujjain, a crowd of devotees is gathering since morning for ‘darshan’ at the Mahakaleshwar temple. Mahakal was specially decorated in the Bhasma Aarti in the early morning. The doors of Mahakaleshwar temple were opened at 2.30 am on Sunday-Monday midnight for Bhasma Aarti. During Bhasma Aarti, Baba Mahakal was divinely decorated in the form of a king with cannabis, sandalwood, dry fruits and jewellery. More than 15 thousand devotees visited Bhasma Aarti. The process of Baba’s darshan in the temple will continue till 10.30 pm.

Mahakal Temple Administrator Mrinal Meena said that today a world record of playing 1500 damru players simultaneously has been made. Before the procession started, the players gave a 10-minute performance on the tune of Bhasma Aarti on Shakti Path in front of Shri Mahakal Mahalok. The team of Guinness Book of World Records monitored the performance with drones and cameras. After the performance on Shakti Path, now in the evening, all the damru players will also join the procession of Lord Mahakal.
