Mahakumbh Nagar, 17 February: A huge crowd of devotees is gathering in Prayagraj Maha Kumbh. More than 1.35 crore devotees took a holy dip till 8 pm on Monday night. Devotees are continuously arriving. In view of security, the police force is engaged in monitoring the ghats.
Additional Fair Officer Maha Kumbh Vivek Chaturvedi said that bathing is going on at the ghats of the holy confluence of the sinners, mother Ganga and Yamuna and the subterranean Saraswati since Monday morning. The number of pilgrims coming till 8 pm on Monday night has reached more than 1.35 crore. There is a rush of devotees on the holy land of Prayagraj. Huge crowds can be seen on the streets of Prayagraj.
In this auspicious occasion of 144 years of Maha Kumbh, till February 17, more than 54.31 crore devotees have taken bath, there is a continuous stream of pilgrims. In view of safety, rescue teams, water police and divers are constantly monitoring all the bathing ghats. In order to maintain crowd control, devotees who have taken bath are being removed from the ghats by constantly shouting.
