New Delhi, 17 Sept: The Congress called on citizens to band together across ideological and political lines to “overthrow” what it referred to as “the dictatorial government in order to save democracy.”

On the second day of the Congress Working Committee (CWC) meeting in Hyderabad, the party’s national chief Mallikarjun Kharge advised all leaders and workers at all levels to meet with people on a regular basis and listen to their issues as the party prepares for the national election next year.

“Now is not the time to relax. The difficulties that regular people have endured have intensified in the last ten years of BJP government. The Prime Minister refuses to address the concerns of the poor, farmers, workers, women, and youth; instead, he is unable to look beyond himself,” Kharge remarked.

“We cannot remain silent spectators in such circumstances.” To safeguard our democracy, we must band together and defeat this totalitarian administration,” he stated.

Sonia Gandhi urged party leaders to exercise discipline and refrain from making statements to the media that may undermine the Congress’s objectives. The party has already issued a list of journalists and media outlets with whom it will no longer work.

“We must work tirelessly, putting personal interests aside. We must put the success of the party ahead of our personal disputes… Only through unity and discipline will we be able to vanquish our opponents. This was seen in Karnataka, where we battled with discipline and remained unified to win triumph,” Kharge remarked.
