Moradabad, 30 December: A delegation of Samajwadi Party (SP) met the families of the victims of Sambhal violence on Monday under the leadership of Leader of Opposition Mata Prasad Pandey in the Assembly.
The delegation handed over cheques of Rs 5 lakh each to them on behalf of the party.
The Leader of Opposition said that we wanted to come earlier, but we were not allowed to come. Mata Prasad Pandey further said that the cases registered against MP Ziaur Rahman Barq are completely false.
On November 24 last month, the Court Commissioner was surveying the disputed Jama Masjid / Harihar Nath temple of Sambhal along with police and administrative officials. Shortly after the survey started, a crowd of 700-800 people gathered in the Jama Masjid area became violent which took the form of a terrible riot.
After this, arson and stone pelting have started. In this violence, 4 rioters died and many policemen were injured. A delegation of SP had come to give cheques of Rs 5 lakh each to the families of these deceased today.
The delegation included Sambhal MP Zia ur Rehman Barq, Sambhal Sadar MLA and former minister Nawab Iqbal Mahmood, MLA from Moradabad’s Kanth assembly and former minister Kamal Akhtar, etc.
