Mahakumbh Nagar, 19 February: The world’s largest spiritual event Maha Kumbh has set a new record in the field of trade and economy. According to the Confederation of All India Traders (CAIT), this time’s Maha Kumbh has generated trade worth more than three lakh crore rupees (360 billion US dollars), making it one of India’s largest economic events.
CAIT General Secretary and MP Praveen Khandelwal said that this event shows the deep connection between faith and economy.

Maha Kumbh is being organized in Prayagraj from January 13 to February 26.
Khandelwal said that according to the initial estimate, 40 crore devotees were expected to come and business worth Rs 2 lakh crore was expected, but due to unprecedented enthusiasm about this event across the country, now 60 crore devotees are expected to come, due to which the total business is likely to exceed Rs 3 lakh crore.
Many business sectors saw a big economic boom during Maha Kumbh 2025. These mainly include:
Tourism, hotel and accommodation services
Food and beverage industry
Transport and logistics
Puja material, religious clothing and handicrafts
Healthcare and wellness services
Media, advertising and entertainment industry
Smart technology, CCTV, telecom and AI based services
Impact up to 150 km
Due to Maha Kumbh, not only Prayagraj but also cities and towns located within a radius of 150 km are seeing a tremendous increase in business. Apart from this, the number of devotees visiting Ayodhya, Varanasi and other religious places has also increased, which has also strengthened the local economy there.
UP government invests Rs 7500 crore on infrastructure
To make the Maha Kumbh a success, the Uttar Pradesh government has spent Rs 7500 crore on the construction and improvement of roads, flyovers and underpasses in Prayagraj. Out of this amount, Rs 1500 crore was specifically allocated for the arrangements of the Maha Kumbh. This has improved traffic and civic amenities not only in Prayagraj but also in the surrounding areas.
