New Delhi, December 4: Music streaming platform Spotify has announced a 17 percent reduction in its workforce. About 1,500 employees will be affected by this cut. Earlier, the company had fired about 600 people.

The company’s Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Daniel Ek, gave this information in an email sent to employees on Monday. Daniel said, “I have taken the difficult decision to reduce the company’s employees by 17 percent.” He said that he believes that this decision will affect many people who have made valuable contributions. “To be honest, many smart, talented, and hard-working people will leave us.”

Laying off 17 percent of Spotify’s workforce means that around 1,500 employees will be out of job. Spotify had laid off 600 employees in January. After that, 200 employees were laid off in June.

It is noteworthy that Spotify is a Swedish audio streaming and media service provider that was founded in 2006 by Daniel Ek. It is one of the largest music streaming service providers in the world.
