New Delhi, February 13: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Hyderabad on Saturday to dedicate to the nation the ‘Statue of Equality’, a 216-feet tall statue of 11th century saint and social reformer Sri Ramanujacharya.
The Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) informed on Thursday that the Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Hyderabad on February 5. The Prime Minister will visit the International Crop Research Institute for Semi-Arid Tropics (ICRISAT) campus at Patancheru, Hyderabad at around 2:45 pm and will begin the 50th anniversary celebrations of the institute. After this, the Prime Minister will dedicate the ‘Statue of Equality’ to the nation in Hyderabad at around 5 pm.
A 3D presentation on Ramanujacharya’s life journey and education will also be displayed during the programme. The Prime Minister will also visit the 108 Divya Desams (ornamentally carved temples) similar entertainments that surround the Statue of Equality.
Sri Ramanujacharya promoted the idea of ​​equality in all aspects of life including faith, caste and creed. The 216-feet high statue built in his memory is made of five metals – gold, silver, copper, brass and zinc. The statue is installed on the 54 feet high base building ‘Bhadra Vedi’. It houses a Vedic digital library and research center, ancient Indian texts, a theater and an educational gallery to provide information on the works of Sri Ramanujacharya. The statue has been conceptualized by Chinna Jeyar Swami of Sri Ramanujacharya Ashram.
Sri Ramanujacharya worked tirelessly for the upliftment of the people with the spirit of every human being regardless of nationality, gender, race, caste or creed. The inauguration of the Statue of Equality is a part of the 12-day Sri Ramanuja Millennium Celebrations.
