Lucknow, 18 December: The Lucknow University administration has imposed restrictions on the movement of students to and from the hostels after 10 pm.
The university administration has taken this step after a clash between the police and the students a day earlier. The entry of outsiders in the hostels has also been banned. A letter was issued by the administration on December 17, 2022 in this regard.
The university administration has said in its order that if any student is found violating these rules, strict action will be taken against him or her.
On Friday night at around 1:30, more than 15 students had gone out to drink tea from Subhash Hostel. The patrolling police stopped the students. There was a scuffle between the students and the police.
The students allege that the policemen thrash them without any reason. After this the students returned to the hostel and around 70-80 students from Subhash hostel and other hostels reached the Hasanganj police station and started raising slogans against the police. This continued till 4 in the morning.
Getting information, some of LU officials reached the spot and pacified the agitatign students and sent them back.
The copy of notice has been forwarded to the Dean Student Welfare, Chief Warden, Registrar, Custodian of the Lucknow University by the Chancellor. Strict action would be taken against the student if he is found violating the rule.
