Prayagraj, 5 Nov: “The recent incident at Banaras Hindu University (BHU) has taken an unfortunate turn as we witness a distortion of the ongoing movement for justice. The ABVP Kashi Hindu University unit, in collaboration with other students, has been vigorously advocating for justice on behalf of a molestation victim at BHU, along with concerns about the university’s campus partition policy,” said Abhinav Mishra, State Media Convenor, Kashi Prant, Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad.
His counterpart Abhay Pratap Singh, Central Working Committee Member and Unit President, BHU Unit, Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad claimed, “The BHU student community remains steadfast in its commitment to upholding justice, regardless of the accused party. We are appalled by the disgraceful incident involving anti-social elements associated with the All India Students Association (AISA) and the BSM (Bhagat Singh Chatra Morcha), who disrupted the peaceful protest and raised derogatory slogans, such as “Hindutva Teri Kabra Khudegi” and “Hindutva Murdabad.”
“In this unfortunate incident, several ABVP members were injured, including Megha, a dedicated female worker who suffered a fractured hand, and Aditi, who sustained a fractured leg. Additionally, 2-3 female workers suffered minor injuries,” said Singh.
It is our sincere belief that the pursuit of justice should remain the primary focus of our collective efforts. Unfortunately, some are using this moment to divert the movement from its essential objective, causing unnecessary disturbances and division among the student community. The incident involving the physical assault on protesting students is deeply regrettable.
The activists of Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) and other concerned students are determined to continue their fight for justice in the IIT-BHU case and against the divisive campus partition policy of the university administration. This collective commitment remains undeterred by the events that transpired.
In response to these actions, ABVP strongly condemns the actions of those involved in the disturbance. We urge all stakeholders to focus on the pursuit of justice and refrain from engaging in actions that undermine the integrity of this movement,? he added.
