Delhi, 19 January: The consecration ceremony of the Ram Temple in Ayodhya on January 22 is set to be a momentous occasion, as five Supreme Court judges who were part of the Constitution bench that paved the way for its construction have been invited as state guests.
These judges include the present Chief Justice of India D Y Chandrachud, along with former CJIs Ranjan Gogoi and S A Bobde, and former judges Ashok Bhushan and S Abdul Nazeer. Their unanimous and anonymous verdict on November 9, 2019, backed the construction of a Ram temple at the disputed site and ruled for an alternative five-acre plot to be found for a mosque in Ayodhya.
The Uttar Pradesh government has also extended invitations to over 50 jurists, including former chief justices, judges, and top lawyers, as well as K Parasaran, the counsel for ‘Ram Lalla’.
Other notable invitees include Solicitor General Tushar Mehta and former Attorney General KK Venugopal. The temple trust has also confirmed that over 7,000 people, including politicians, celebrities, industrialists, and saints are expected to attend the ceremony.
The special secretary protocol of Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has sent out these invitations.
The consecration ceremony will be a significant event with the ‘Pran Pratishtha’ of the idol of Ram Lalla taking place in the still-under-construction temple in Ayodhya.
