New Delhi, 19 December: The Supreme Court refused to hear the contempt petition filed on the matter of Dharma Sansad in Ghaziabad. Supreme Court asked the petitioners’ lawyer Prashant Bhushan to go to the High Court.

Prashant Bhushan told the court that there is a possibility that provocative things will be said against Muslims there. The petition was filed by retired bureaucrats and social workers of Uttar Pradesh. This Dharma Sansad has been organized by Yeti Narasimhanand Foundation.

The Dharma Sansad is to be organized from December 17 to December 21 at Shiv Shakti Mandir premises in Dasna, Ghaziabad.

Among those who filed the petition were social activist Aruna Rai, former IAS Ashok Kumar Sharma, former IFS Deb Mukherjee and Navrekha Sharma etc. In the petition, a demand was made to initiate contempt of court proceedings against the Ghaziabad district administration and the UP police.

It was said in the petition that according to the previous decision of the Supreme Court, the administration has to take suo motu cognizance and take action against any communal speech and hate speech, but this event has been allowed.

Earlier, there was a controversy over hate speech in the Dharma Sansad held in Haridwar, after which criminal action was initiated against Yeti Narsinghanand and others.
