Lucknow, 23 October: Suresh Kumar Khanna, Minister of Finance and Parliamentary Affairs of Uttar Pradesh and Minister in-charge of Lucknow district, conducted a surprise inspection to see the cleanliness of the city.
He inspected four wards of the Municipal Corporation. These include Faizullaganj-2, Faizullaganj-3, Aliganj and Lal Bahadur Shastri-2 wards.
The minister in charge expressed his displeasure about the cleanliness system in the wards. During the inspection in Faizullaganj-3, he expressed displeasure over the cleanliness system and directed the city commissioner to deduct the salary of the zonal officer.
He reprimanded the zonal officer for being very dissatisfied with the cleaning of drains in Faizullaganj-3, butcher bara, Mohibullapur during the inspection.
He said that the encroachments should be removed from the drains immediately and the drains should be cleaned regularly. He instructed to open the covered drains in Rahim Nagar, Dudauli Marg and Kesar Nagar in Faizullaganj-2 Ward and clean the silt stuck in them immediately.
He said that cleaning workers and other responsible personnel of the concerned area should be present and clean all the drains by this evening. Along with this, he also inspected Aliganj Ward and Lal Bahadur Shastri-2 Ward.
Khanna said that the zonal officers of all the zones should conduct regular inspections in their respective zones and ensure sanitation and cleaning of drains.
He directed the municipal commissioner to mark the vacant plots and give notice to their owners to build their boundary walls. He said that there is garbage and filth on vacant plots, due to which diseases spread and mosquitoes etc. are born.
He directed that anti-larvae and deworming should be done regularly in densely populated wards in view of the festive season. Also, the quality of water should be ensured for the supply of pure drinking water.
The in-charge minister said that our effort is to ensure that there is an atmosphere of cleanliness in the entire municipal corporation. Cleanliness and clean drinking water can prevent all diseases. Therefore, it is the responsibility of all of us to keep the city clean and tidy.
He said that there is a need to make people aware of this. He said that everyone should include cleanliness in their daily routine and be aware of self-cleaning as well as make other people aware. He appealed that people should not build the ramp of their houses on the side of the drain.
During the inspection, Lucknow Municipal Corporation Mayor Sushma Kharkwal, Municipal Commissioner Indrajit Singh, Swachhta Protsahan Samiti Chairman Sunil Kumar Mishra along with Municipal Corporation officials and other public representatives were present.
