Ayodhya, 18 Aug: Two groups of’sadhus’ fought over the distribution of temple offerings in Ayodhya on Thursday. Explosion-like sounds were heard at Narsingh temple, which is under the jurisdiction of Ayodhya Kotwali Police Station.
According to the police, the fight started over an issue which cropped up few months ago between the temple’s Mahant and its priest.
Rajesh Tiwari, a Circle Officer, stated: “There was a disagreement about who owned and controlled the temple for the purpose of receiving offerings and earning money. We have detained both of the conflicting parties.” However, the officer denied that any bombs exploded during the clash. He stated that some crackers were set off to cause fear, and that the matter was being looked into.
