Lucknow, 05 November: A cloth merchant, in an inebriated state, killed his wife by stabbing her several times with a knife late Saturday night in Lucknow. The accused is absconding since the incident, police said.
According the police, police reached the spot after receiving the information and conducted forensic investigation of the incident site and sent the body for post-mortem.
Textile businessman Aditya Kapoor lives with his wife Shivani and two children in Alaya Apartment in Papermill Colony Shivaji Nagar of the metropolis.
According to the neighbours, he came to the house in an inebriated state on Saturday night and started knocking on the door. When his wife was late in opening the door, he started quarreling over this matter. After this he injured his wife by stabbing her several times with a knife. Hearing the screams, the accused ran away after seeing the neighbors who reached the spot. Neighbors took the injured to Lohia Hospital, where doctors declared her dead.
Neighbors said that UP dial 112 police and ambulance were informed regarding the incident. Despite receiving the news the police did not arrive. The police, along with the forensic team, have started investigating the incident by investigating the incident site and sending the body for post-mortem.
Mahanagar police station in-charge told that the accused is still at large and police teams have been deployed to search for him.
