New Delhi, 06 September: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday said the grand Nataraja statue at the Bharat Mandapam brings alive aspects of India’s rich history and culture.

Responding to a post shared by Indira Gandhi National Center for the Arts (IGNCA) on Twitter, the Prime Minister said, โ€œThe magnificent Nataraja statue in the Bharat Mandapam brings to life aspects of our rich history and culture. As the world gathers for the G20 summit, it will stand as a testament to India’s age-old artistry and traditions.โ€

IGNCA said in its ex-post that the idol of Nataraja made of Ashtadhatu is installed in Bharat Mandapam. This 27 feet tall statue, weighing 18 tonnes, is the tallest statue made of Ashtadhatu and was created by the famous sculptor Radhakrishnan Sthapathi and his team from Swami Malai, Tamil Nadu in a record 7 months. 34 generations of Radhakrishnan have been making idols since the Chola Empire period.

This statue of Nataraja, an important symbol of cosmic energy, creativity and power, is going to be the attraction at the G20 summit. This prestigious project is run by Team IGNCA of the Ministry of Culture.
