New Delhi, 03 November: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday said India’s food processing sector has attracted FDI worth Rs 50,000 crore in the last nine years.
The Prime Minister said this while inaugurating the second edition of a major food event ‘World Food India 2023’ at ‘Bharat Mandapam’ in Pragati Maidan, New Delhi.
The Prime Minister said that this blend of taste and technology will give birth to a new future and give impetus to a new economy. In these changing times, food security is a big issue in the 21st century and that is why events like World Food India are important.
He said that the processed food industry in India is now being seen as an emerging sector. The sector has received FDI worth Rs 50,000 crore in the last nine years. This is due to the pro-industry and pro-farmer policies of the Government of India. We have started PLI scheme for the food processing sector.
He said that the women of the country have the natural ability to lead the food processing industry. For this, cottage industries and SHGS are being promoted to women at every level.
The Prime Minister said that there is as much cultural diversity in India as there is food diversity. Today, the way curiosity towards India has increased in the whole world, it has also brought a huge opportunity for all of you.
