Two alleged journalists arrested in illegal extortion case in Kanpur

Kanpur, 04 August: The Harbansh Mohalla police station in Kanpur arrested two alleged journalists on Sunday on the charge of illegal extortion from a hotel operator. Legal action was taken against these people and they were sent to court.ย 

Deputy Commissioner of Police East Shravan Kumar Singh said on Sunday that the alleged journalists are Shubham Mishra, a resident of Hulaganj Mohalla and Nitin Singh, a resident of Lokman Mohalla. Jiya Malik, wife of Nitin, a resident of Chakeri, gave a complaint in the police station on August 3 that on August 2, two alleged journalists Shubham and Nitin Singh came to my hotel. They asked for five thousand rupees and started pressuring me when I refused. Because of this I gave one thousand rupees, which later they returned in anger saying that now we will take ten thousand rupees from you for a month. I had ordered eight beers and chilli paneer from hotel operator Vikas Gupta, CCTV of which is available.ย 

He informed that on the complaint of the woman, a case was registered in Harbansh Mohalla police station on August 3. The police team arrested both of them and sent them to jail after presenting them in the court.
