Two criminals wanted in loot case, shot & arrested in UP

Amethi, 01 Jan: Police claimed on Monday that two accused robbers were apprehended in an Amethi hamlet following an encounter in which both were injured in the leg and a sub-inspector was shot in the hand.

According to Additional Superintendent of Police Harendra Kumar, the two men were wanted in connection with a 4 lakh heist that occurred on December 30 near Tikri in the Amethi district.

On Sunday late night, police received information that the two thieves were seen near Ghorha village, and a squad was dispatched to apprehend them. When the accused culprits were encircled by police, they opened fire, injuring Sub-Inspector Shiv Baksh Singh in hand, according to Kumar.

Police responded fire, shooting the two men in the legs and arresting them. According to the police, the two were carrying Rs. 3.50 lakh in cash, a country-made handgun, a few rounds, and a motorbike, all of which were seized. According to him, the accused were admitted to a community health clinic in Amethi for medical treatment.
