Bahraich, 17 October: Two accused who were absconding for the murder of Ramgopal Mishra in Maharajganj of Bahraich district of Uttar Pradesh on Sunday, had an encounter with the police on Thursday afternoon. During the encounter, both the accused were injured in the firing, who have been admitted to Bahraich District Hospital in critical condition. They have been identified as main accused Rinku alias Sarfaraz and Talib. Sarfaraz is the son of main accused Abdul Hameed and he is also an accused.
According to the police, Sarfaraz and Talib were shot in their legs during the encounter on the bypass of Nanpara Kotwali. They were taken to Nanpara CHC for treatment, where after first aid, they were referred to Bahraich District Hospital. Where they have been admitted and treatment has been started.
The doctor on duty at the CHC said that Sarfaraz and Talib were brought here in an injured state at 2.35 pm. One of the accused was shot in the left leg and the other in the right leg. At present, the bullet is stuck inside. Seeing their critical condition, they have been sent to Bahraich District Hospital for further treatment.
UP STF chief Amitabh Yash said, “There was firing for a while, in which Sarfaraz and Mohammad Talib were injured. A total of five people, including the main accused, have been arrested in the case.”
Rukhsar, daughter of Abdul Hameed, the landlord in Bahraich, who is accused of firing at Ram Gopal Mishra, has alleged that her father Abdul Hameed, his two brothers Sarfaraz, Faheem and another youth with them were picked up by the UP STF at 4 pm on Wednesday. Her husband and brother-in-law were already in police custody. No information is available about them from any police station.
Expressing her apprehension of their encounter, Rukhsar had appealed to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath for the safety of her family members.
It is known that a youth named Ram Gopal Mishra was shot dead in the ruckus during Durga idol immersion in Maharajganj of Bahraich on Sunday evening. After this, the angry mob created a lot of ruckus in the district. There was tense peace in the district on Tuesday and Wednesday. Internet was also restored in Maharajganj area on Thursday.
On the other hand, the family members of the deceased youth had met Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath two days ago and demanded strict action against the culprits.
