Kathmandu, 17 September: Security personnel seized two trucks with the same number plate in Nepal’s border town Birgunj. Birgunj Customs team caught both the trucks while entering Nepal carrying goods from Uttar Pradesh, India.
While entering the Nepal-India Integrated Check Post located at Birgunj after completing the necessary paperwork from the Nepali Custom Department, the Armed Guard Force (APF) present there took control of both the trucks.
APF in-charge Sangam Shrestha said that after completing the process of one of the two trucks bearing number UP-70 FT 2525, both the trucks were trying to cross on the same documents. Both the trucks were loaded with maize, which was brought from Uttar Pradesh for export to Nepal.
APF in-charge Shrestha said that this is the second time that two trucks with the same number were being passed on the basis of the same paper. Last year also, two trucks with the same number were being made to cross in a similar manner. To save import tax, traders keep doing this kind of work by colluding with customs employees.
