Kolkata, July 8: The Union Home Ministry has started action against two top Kolkata police officers, Commissioner Vineet Goyal and Deputy Commissioner (Central) Indira Mukherjee. This action is being taken on the basis of a report submitted by West Bengal Governor CV Anand Bose.

In the report, these officers have been accused of hurting the dignity of the post of Governor. Governor Bose had alleged in his report that Vineet Goyal and Indira Mukherjee spread rumors against the Governor and encouraged them. The report said that “the work they did is not expected from a government employee.”

Both officers expressed ignorance
Both Vineet Goyal and Indira Mukherjee said that they have no information about this action. Vineet Goyal said, “I do not know anything about this. If something has come, it must have come to the state government.” Indira Mukherjee also said the same thing.

What is the matter?
Governor Bose submitted this report to the Union Home Minister in the last week of June and sent a copy of it to the state government on July 4. In the report, the Governor alleged that these officials did not allow the victims who came to meet the Governor in the case of post-election violence to meet him. Apart from this, he also alleged that these officials also promoted the fabricated complaint of a temporary female employee of the Raj Bhavan in April-May 2024.
Governor Bose also wrote in his report that these incidents have hurt the dignity of the post of Governor, due to which he had sought appropriate action against these officers from the Union Home Ministry.
