Lucknow, 26 April: The Uttar Pradesh Police Special Task Force (STF) detained three members of an international smuggling racket on Thursday for allegedly supplying contraband to students studying at coaching institutions in Rajasthan’s Kota.
The STF apprehended three accused smugglers who were in a vehicle on the Lucknow-Kanpur route in Krishna Nagar after receiving information that some persons were transporting charas in large numbers from Nepal and were going to give it over to a smuggler from Rajasthan.
During the search, 20 kilogram of charas with a market value of Rs one crore was found from their possession. Aftab Khan of Shahjahanpur, Salman Khan of Hardoi, and Anil Kumar Shukla of Kota, Rajasthan, have been identified as the smugglers apprehended.
During interrogation, Aftab and Salman admitted to authorities that they had been smuggling charas from Nepal for the past two years. According to the announcement, Shukla used to sell the contraband to kids studying at coaching facilities in Kota. Shukla used to utilise UPI to transfer money from drug sales to Aftab and Salman’s bank accounts.
