Lucknow, 22 July: According to a press release issued by the state government, the Uttar Pradesh government has approved an administrative and financial advance of โน 100 crore as the state share for the smooth operation of the Ayushman Bharat-Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana under the Medical Department (Family Welfare).
The state administration has also released instructions outlining how this cash should be spent on various projects by March 31, 2024. The approval, however, came with a number of limitations and riders.
According to the press release, the state government has approved spending on 42 standard items of social security and welfare programmes, other social security and welfare schemes, other insurance schemes, and the Ayushman Bharat-National Health Protection Mission.
According to financial regulatory regulations, any government employee or official responsible for the withdrawal of money would be held accountable for their correct utilisation and will also be held liable in the event of a loss, according to the press release.
Furthermore, the Director General (DG) of Family Welfare has been required to guarantee that this sum, as well as other previously given advance amounts, have been adjusted by March 31, 2024.
According to the announcement, the DG will also be in charge of alerting the government of the change. Furthermore, any other advance payment will require the government’s approval.
Adequate financial standards will be followed while using the fund, and expenditures will be made for the intended purpose, according to the announcement.
The accumulated interest will be placed in the Treasury from the time funds are delivered to institutions until they are actually used by them, according to the statement.
It should be remembered that the states, in addition to the Centre, contribute funding to the Ayushman Bharat-Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana launched by the Government of India.
In addition to this national government plan, Uttar Pradesh has introduced the Mukhyamantri Jan Arogya Yojana. Through these programs, almost nine crore beneficiaries receive free medical benefits of up to Rs 5 lakh per person.
