Lucknow, 19 February: Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, while replying to the opposition’s proposal to discuss Kumbh in the House, said that is it a crime to organize Sanatan events with grandeur, if it is, then our government is doing it and will do it in future too. Yogi said that I assure the House that whoever is guilty of Prayagraj Kumbh will not be spared, no matter who he is, no matter how big he is.

The Chief Minister attacked the opposition by reading a few lines- The magic of their tongue is very beautiful..they set fire and talk of spring, those who looted the settlements at night, they talk of those who are unluckyโ€ฆ

The leader of the house said that at the time when this discussion is going on, more than 56 crore devotees have taken a dip in the Sangam. When they make baseless statements against faith, it is against the faith of 56 crore people. This is not an event organized by any government, the government is cooperating from behind. We have a feeling of reverence towards Sanatan. Ignoring the rumours, the common people have taken it to the heights of success. By Wednesday afternoon, more than 56 crore devotees have taken a dip of faith. Our sympathies are with all those devotees who fell victim to the stampede on 29th or were killed in other road accidents. The government stands with them. He hit back at the opposition for spreading false rumours and said that the video of Cairo was linked with the Maha Kumbh. Videos of other incidents in Nepal and Jharkhand were shown as those of Maha Kumbh.

Yogi said that these people were opposing Maha Kumbh from the very first day. In the last session, we were ready to hold a discussion, but they did not participate in the discussion, they ran away. The national president of SP first gave a statement that what is the need to spend so much money and give so much expansion? If you look at the social media handles of SP, the language there reflects their values. This language cannot be of any civilized society. These people knew Akbar’s fort, but did not know Akshayvat and Saraswati Koop. This is their statement that the government is giving the figures of bathing, should they also give the figures of those who died?

The Chief Minister said that his ally Lalu Prasad Yadav finds Maha Kumbh useless. One of his ally Jaya Bachchan said that the Maha Kumbh is Mrityu Kumbh. One of their leaders Jaya Bachchan said that the dead bodies were thrown into the Ganga. This has polluted the water. These statements are of SP’s allies RJD, TMC and others. The Chief Minister asked in a questioning tone that is it a crime to organize a Sanatan event with grandeur, if it is, then our government is doing it and will continue to do so.

He said that we do not mind your propaganda, because we know that you think that there is no treatment for an infected person, he will keep sulking on his own. A great work has to go through three stages. From ridicule, from opposition and finally from acceptance. What can be a bigger proof of acceptance than the fact that the Samajwadi Party President who was protesting, went and took a bath secretly.

Yogi said that in the name of protest, these people called the Covid vaccine the BJP’s vaccine, opposed the Ram temple. No one remained hungry in the Sanatan Dharma event. Whoever came to the Maha Kumbh did not go hungry. Prayagraj, Kashi, Ayodhya presented the proof of Atithi Devo Bhava. The public is seeing those who are spreading propaganda on this. The public is not agreeing after all the propaganda. You are preaching to others. Looking at Shivpal Yadav, Yogi said that he (Akhilesh) himself is coming after taking a bath secretly. The nephew has gone, he has left his uncle.

Similarly, CM Yogi has rejected each and every allegation of the opposition on Kumbh.

On the second day of the budget session in the Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly, during the zero hour on Wednesday, the main opposition party Samajwadi Party brought an adjournment motion under Rule-56 and demanded a discussion on the arrangements for Kumbh.

Senior SP members Dr Rakesh Kumar Verma and Sangram Yadav said that the officials have been negligent in Kumbh. The government should release the correct figures of the dead in Kumbh. They alleged gross mismanagement in Kumbh. Congress Legislature Party leader Aradhana Mishra Mona also alleged negligence and demanded a discussion on it.
